The Beginning

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

So, I’m here to share my story.

Welcome to my first blog post. As of now I’m not sure how often I will be posting these, but I did want to add some fun reading along with my products. I suppose I should begin by introducing myself. My name is Amber the owner and creator of Crafty Knots. As I’m sure you can tell this is just the beginning of my small business journey. Honestly, I don’t know what I am doing but I know I want to do it, so you’ll have to bear with me as I work things out and figure out what is best for my business and customers. In this post I wanted to just share a little bit about me and how Crafty Knots became to be. If you already read my About Me page some of this may sound repetitive but there will be more details. Any who without further ado let’s meet… well me!

Like I said my name is Amber and I live in central Wisconsin with my boyfriend, Caleb, of two and a half years and our two dogs, Storm and Luna. Luna is the baby at seven months old and is quite the handful. Storm is my old girl at five years old but she still thinks she’s a puppy even if she shows her age once in a while.

Storm is on the left and Luna is on the right.

Currently I have another job which is my full-time job, so this is more of a hobby but one day I hope for it to be my full-time job and with your help I can do that. I have been crocheting for years now. I honestly couldn’t even tell you an exact number because I was taught when I was young by my mom. I had stopped for a while and then had picked it back up when I met my college roommate who also crocheted. I had tried knitting a long time ago but couldn’t stick with it but recently, like in the last month or so, I have picked it back up. I am by no means an expert at knitting, but I am learning slowly. Eventually I plan to have knitted products on here as well as crochet, but I need to get better at knitting before I can feel confident enough to sell it. For now, it will just be crocheted items. Crocheting, and now knitting, has been a passion of mine for so long and brings me so much joy that I want to share it with others. I want others to feel the joy of a handmade item whether for themselves or a gift for someone else. This is why I created Crafty Knots; I want to bring this joy to everyone that I can. There is something about handmade items that is just different from store bought. Knowing someone put so much time and effort into something just makes it so much more special.

As I mentioned I did go to college. I went for an English degree, but I ended up deciding it wasn’t the right time for me to be in school nor the right career path for me, so I ended up dropping out. I focused on my job at that time which was at a daycare. Eventually life moved forward and I had to leave the daycare due to money and other problems. Before leaving I had met my boyfriend and after floating around a couple different jobs I ended up working at the same place as him. I stayed there for over a year before I decided enough was enough and left to go to my current job. Also, in the midst of this I went back to school online and I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I hope to find something in that field eventually, but the pickings are slim where I live. Psychology is my other passion in life. I love helping people and maybe eventually I will get my master’s to become a therapist but for now I have to take a break. I’m schooled out! And for now, I would like to focus on getting Crafty Knots started and making a name for myself through it.

I have wanted to create this small business for years but never believed it would work out. Now that crocheting is making a comeback I feel it’s worth a shot. I have a dream and I don’t want to give up on it. I know this journey isn’t going to be easy and it will have it hardships but I am willing to work for it.

Thank you for being here and welcome to the Crafty Knots family! <3
